Dr. Hunaid Vohra’s : journey in Cardiac Surgery went through working in London hospitals (Harefield and St Thomas’) and Southampton, UK. Having been conferred the status of a Fellow both by the British as well as the European Cardiac Surgical Boards, he was awarded the prestigious Ethicon Scholarship from the SCTS to sub-specialise in mitral and aortic valve repair with Professor Gebrine El Khoury at Saint-Luc University Hospital (Brussels) followed by minimally invasive mitral valve repair with Professor Hugo Vanermen at OLV clinic (Aalst, Belgium). On his return to UK, he completed another sub-speciality fellowship in minimally invasive aortic valve surgery at the St Thomas’ Hospital, London.His love of the practical aspects of surgery is matched by an enthusiasm for research (PhD). He is faculty on international MIS training courses. He is the author of two books on MIS. He held the position of Associate Editor of the Cardiac Valve section of ICVTS/EJCTS journal. He is currently the Co-chair of Innovation in SCTS and the Training Programme Director in the South-West of England.
