Tasbirul Islam graduated from Dhaka Medical College in 1992. He successfully completed residency in internal medicine in 2005 and fellowship in pulmonary & critical care medicine in 2008. He passed the examinations and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians of UK in 1997. He was the best resident for consecutive three years and was recipient of the Golden Apple/ Stethoscope award for excellence in teaching at the Drexel University College of Medicine. In 2010, he was voted the best teaching attending by the residents. Tasbirul is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
He is actively involved in teaching medical students, residents and pharmacy students. He is now serving as course director, Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine for medical students at Indiana University School of Medicine, Lafayette campus, Indiana. Tasbirul has established observership program for young physicians of Bangladeshi origin in his hospital since 2013.
He is well published (over 20 papers) in peer reviewed journals. He served as executive member of central BMANA from 2017 to 2019. He is currently Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine, Medical Director, division of pulmonary and critical care medicine and chairman of Planetary health Academia (PHA).
