Dr. Nurun Begum graduated from the Chittagong Medical College, Chittagong, Bangladesh in 2000. She was a gold medalist for her outstanding achievement as she ranked first all through the medical professional examinations held under Chittagong Board. She was awarded with the prestigious Japanese Government Monbuso Research Scholarship in behavioral proteomics and molecular neuroscience with special interest to Alzheimer’s disease. She successfully attained her PhD defense in 2006 from Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine. In the same year, she also applied for psychiatry residency program in USA and got accepted as a prematch at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center. After completing residency in 2010, she joined Universal Health Services (UHS) Delaware as a consultant psychiatrist with an affiliation to the Delaware Psychiatric Center, DE. Dr. Nurun Begum has published numerous original peer reviewed articles in several international journals. She recently became a coauthor of the psychiatric book titled “Mental illness Among South Asian Americans”. She is an active member of American Psychiatric Association (APA). She is also a broad certified physician of American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
